Managing your money
This section of the Web site focuses on how to manage your
money. Read each section
in order.
After reading this section, you’ll be ready to create your own spending
plan. This worksheet contains two parts. Click on the link to the right for the
spending plan worksheet.
First, complete the monthly income
section. Include your income from all sources. Enter your numbers
directly into the worksheet. The worksheet will add up your totals for you.
Next, complete the worksheet
on monthly expenses. Here, list all of the expenses
you have during the month. Start with savings first. If you don’t
have a regular amount to save, try starting with an amount equal
to 10 percent of your monthly income. You may wish to set aside
another 5 percent for investments and 5 to 10 percent for donations.
The amount you choose is up to you.
Check your income and expense totals. Do these amounts
match? If your income
is more than your expenses, you’re in great shape! If not, you may need
to make some adjustments. Read the section on making
adjustments for ideas to improve your plan. With a little
practice,
you’ll be a smart money manager. Congratulations!
